Astro Battleground 2011: Katoon Network

Remember I told you Astro Battleground (ABG) is one of the biggest street dance competitions in Malaysia? IT IS BACKKK YO PEEPS !!!! Just as I thought ABG has gone downhill, suddenly many awesome teams are showing up on the show again! If you are one of the loyal fans of Elecoldxhot you won't have missed the news that Joe Lin is joining this year's ABG under team F.I.X. Not to forget Chris Ooi's Junior, Freshype and one of the senior break dance teams in Malaysia, Floor Fever.

But none of the groups caught my attention more than Katoon Network! They were the champion team of ABG 2009, 2nd-runner up of Asian MRT Cup 2010 at Taiwan, Malaysian represent for Hip Hop International 2011 at Las Vegas, performers at The Big Groove 2010 at Singapore and winner of many other local and international street dance competitions. With such vast experiences and strong background, I just couldn't expect less from them. Let's see how much they have progressed over the last 2 years.. :D

8tv showdown 2011 final

Well, there you have it, the champion of 8tv Showdown 2011, Elecoldxhot!!!! Congratulations guys!! :D

So I predicted wrong. Elecoldxhot did have something up their sleeves after all. I like how they use different music genre, like dubstep in the first routine. But the show that blown us away have got to be the second show. The second routine was the best, I would say, of all the performances they have done throughout the show. They finally get rid of the annoying idle which they like to incorporate in the middle of the routine. They finally speed up, although still not much grooving, but fast movements really make the show a lot more exciting. So, kudos to the choreographer.

In the battle round, I really think that HMC Phlow did a better job. They seem much more prepared and focused. Their sets were also more neat and please to watch. Elecoldxhot on the other hand, idle a lot during the battle. Before they took their first move, they were sort of lost... They wasted some time scouting the stage while discussing for strategies or waiting for their song to come in, or something like that... It was obvious that they weren't well prepared. At that moment, I thought that was it for them. But luckily they managed to show some stunts before the time was up.

The next most anticipated competition would be Astro Battleground 2011/2012, which hopefully will take place at the fourth quarter of the year. I am looking forward to see more talents this year. It kinda went downhill after the third season but I still believe there are crouching tigers and hidden dragons...Please come out from where you're hiding cause we need to see you :D

Speaking of which I've came across a very talented young man, called Lee Hann Sen, aka B-boy Hann Sen. So far I only know he is or was a member of Famous Crew, he competed in a few B-boy competition such as BOTY and I-battle Penang (search through Youtube). Really hope to see more of him soon :)

Wow what's this! Dennis is totally stressed out.. :( Through Dennis's confession, it seems like there's a lot of conspiracy in 8tv Showdown 2011 competition. He seems quite unhappy with the competition particularly with how 8tv organises things. From his words, it can also be deduced that Elecoldxhot is having some dispute with other teams... O.o

Prediction:

So... tonight is the night! Who will win Showdown 2011? First and foremost, I guess every team that goes into the final deserves a standing ovation. Great job and thank you for all the wonderful times ;D

Frankly, I thought Elecoldxhot would win this competition, but I was shocked when I know their votes weren't the highest. The votes they got could only earn them 2nd runner up. But they definitely deserve more votes yo, so keep voting..

For the result prediction... I'm definitely not as good as Paul, just giving some personal opinions here.. I think..

HMC Phlow would win the title,

Elecoldxhot 1st runner up,

2nd runner up, Bounce Steppers

Rokustep would stand a chance IF Showdown were meant for B-boys.

But the judges and the fans made it clear that this competition is NOT about skills and power moves all along, it's about entertainment...Cause face it, not all the audience know hip hop dances. Not all understand the level of difficulty of a move. Not all appreciate stunts. We normal people only recognise the entertainment value of a show. If the show if interesting enough, then you have our votes.

HMC Phlow would win because I think they showed very consistent performances throughout the show, you can expect good show from them during the final as well. To me, the only thing they lack is attitude...You know, all of them looked too friendly... Show serious faces and held your heads up higher like Faruq, you'll be more destructive.

If Elecoldxhot cannot get champion, it's really not the team we should blame... The judges like them, they've demonstrated high quality of performances every week, there is no way they could lose this competition, really.

But since the show is coming to an end, I guess I can at least voice out my tiny little disappointment about this team that I held so long.

Elecoldxhot, no doubt they can blow the stage, that is, if they let the right person to choreograph... ;D You can definitely figure out their style now --- LA style. But sorry to say...LA style is not interesting enough for an ordinary audience like me... I do hope that they let the one with true talent to choreograph the last and most essential show tonight! I've watched quite a number of their shows and I think, if I guess right, 'that guy' is too confident of himself. He doesn't realize that he needs to absorb more variety of styles into his routine. The other guys in the team who knew this all along, please voice out and help him realize his routine is getting boring. So all I can say is, good luck Elecoldxhot.

A lil intro maybe, but I knew them mostly from Astro Battleground... Chriz and Billy are the original members. Together with Monkey, Leon and Gary, they won Astro Battleground 2008 with their creative and neat choreography.

Dennis was also a winner of Astro Battleground 2007, competing under a highly potential crew known as Racken Force. He joined Elecoldxhot to challenge Astro Battleground again in 2009 and had fought beautifully to the final. Despite outstanding performances delivered throughout the show, this crew was only able to get first runner up in the competition.

Joe Lin with his crew, Free was also one of the competing teams in Astro Battleground 2009. They demonstrated very high standard performances, but wasn't good enough to fight the other extraordinarily strong teams that gathered all at once in that year's competition. To me, that was the most exciting street dance competition ever held in Malaysia. Do do check them out on Youtube... I dare to say the standard was a lot better than Showdown 2011. But still, I'll follow Showdown till the final. As for Joey, this is the first time I see him on TV, so I don't have much to say about him... :X

Here's Elecoldxhot's week 6 live show... I don't know whether I like this performance or not... I was waiting for the impact... but it just didn't come :/

They have set their benchmark so high on Week 4 live show that now they have no choice but to maintain that level of entertainment and difficulty, otherwise their performance would be overshadowed. I have seen better performances from them such as this one.

I guess what Elecoldxhot lacks of is grooving... Hope they work that out :)

There you go. Yet another awesome performance by Elecoldxhot in Showdown 2011 week 5 live show. It's unquestionable that they were the best crew of the night, but I kinda feel it's overshadowed by last week performance... :/ maybe I just prefer trans over vampires.. nyehehe....

8TV Showdown 2011--Analyzing Elecoldxhot: from an audience point of view

OMG... I'm totally into street dance recently and showdown 2011 is definitely one of the most prestigious street dance competitions that cannot be missed yo!

This year I'm eying on Elecoldxhot. Frankly speaking I wasn't quite a big fan of them before this. I've seen their performance in Astro Battleground and click through some of their videos on Youtube. While I found their style unique, their skills are lacking and their dance variety limited. I thought they still don't groove much to the music, they still stop half way through the dance and waste time looking at each other, too much slow mo..

But this performance totally blown me away... O.O

The crowd just love it don't they? I myself have watched it for countless times :D

To me, rather than doing complicated flipping or human stacking or any moves that requires years of practicing to achieve perfectness, they focused more on choreographing a set that would sell for sure. They've mastered the tactics so well that people would be totally mesmerized by their show and oversee the weaknesses in their moves. Take this video for example. Dennis is the only one who can shake like a real mama.. But the show was a blast, no one really cares about how they dance.. It was so mind blowing that you won't even have time to think : hey, that guy should have shaken harder.. Of course if everyone could dance like Dennis that would give extra merit..

Another strength of this crew is they are very confident in themselves and their crew members. They work together so well that you can hardly find any fault in their routine 95% of the time. Everyone in the team loves their set, they have practiced for so many times and all there is left is to impress the people. Not to mention they are hardworking and creative. They are able to pull it off every week with strong believe in themselves.

Quoting Showdown judge Maple Loo: They are creative, cool, confident, they have character, they got craft and lastly they dance like crazy. This group will definitely go far in this competition. All the best to Elecoldxhot!!

I'm actually a big fan of anime and manga:) Here are some of my art works that I produced during free time^^ no matter how busy I am, I can always find some time to practice my drawing skills. But as you can see my skills are still very immature. I wonder how far I could have gone if I took design course rather than engineering 5 years ago...

Sometimes it really made me down. I'm not at all a bright student, I know my own capabilities. It was mere self ego that pushed me forward. That half-hearted effort made me an incompetent engineering student and a poor artist. I believe every success comes with a true passion and 100% commitment. And the saddest thing in the world, is to give up your true passion for other people's passion.

Fukushima Daiichi plant latest news

Following the 9.0 magnitude earthquake that hit Japan on March 11, more than 400 major aftershocks stronger than 5.0 magnitude occurred, taking away 13,219 lives in the prefecture, with more than 14,000 more still unaccounted for. This disaster has left 150,000 homeless (AFP).

The catastrophe also knocked out the cooling system of the Fukushima Daiichi plant that has since spurred anxiety of nuclear widespread. Despite weeks of efforts to cool down the plant reactor using sea water, the plant still experienced continuous episodes of explosions and eventually released nuclear radiation to the vicinity.

Fukushima on par with Chernobyl

On 12 April, Japan upgraded its nuclear emergency to the highest level of 7 in the international scale of atomic crisis, putting it on par with the Chernobyl nuclear disaster that took place in 1986. Level 7 in the UN's International Events Scale (INES) is rated as a major accident that related to:

a ''Major release of radioactive materials with widespread health and environmental effects, requiring implementation of planned and extended countermeasures.''

The significance of INES scale from zero to Level 7 are shown below:

Zero: Events known as 'deviations' that have no safety significance

Level 1: Anomaly. Minor problem with safety components at a nuclear plant, but significant safety margin remaining.

Level 2: Incident. Radiation levels of more than 50 millisieverts (mSv) per hour.

Level 3: Serious Incident. Severe contamination within facility with non-lethal injuries. Low probability of public exposure.

Level 4: Accident with local consequences. Partial meltdown to fuel and release of significant amount of radioactive particles within facility but no countermeasures needed.

Level 5: Accident with wider consequences. Severe damage to reactor core, large quantity of radioactive material released. Requires some planned countermeasures.

Level 6: Serious accident. Significant release of radioactive material requiring planned countermeasures.

Level 7: Major accident. Major release of radioactive materials with widespread health and environmental effects, requiring implementation of planned and extended countermeasures.

Plans to dismantle plant

Every increment in the scale would mean 10-fold increase in severity. Now, the options left are very limited. One of them would be to dismantle the plant for good. However, this is no ordinary dismantling, claimed Tokyo-based analyst at Mizuho Investors Securities Co.. The decommissioning of a nuclear plant would take not 3 years, but 3 decades to complete, consuming up to 1 trillion yen ($12 billion) in the process. (Bloomberg) The companies that have submitted the proposal include:

1. Hitachi Ltd. (6501) and General Electric Co. (GE).

2. Toshiba’s group, which includes Babcock & Wilcox Co. (BWC) and Shaw Group Inc. (SHAW)

3. Areva, the world’s biggest maker of nuclear reactors.

Sucker Punch movie review

Although many people say that Sucker Punch is for guys, being a female audience, I have to say: ''The movie is pure awesomeness!''

Do expect lots of kick-ass fighting scenes with fabulous graphics and cool background music. Do expect hot chicks. Do also expect 'echi' costumes, guys would definitely like it ;D. If you are an otaku, you would also find some mild 'yuri' scenes throughout the movie. Basically I think the movie has a lot of Japanese anime essence in it. If it were to be an anime, one would classify it under 'action', 'mecha', 'echi', and 'psycho'.

However, I would not recommend the movie to those expecting storyline. The story is not well elaborated. There are loose ends here and there and it is hard to make sense out of the movie if you don't read the synopsis beforehand. The character development is also kind of limited. I would give 3.5 out of 5 for the storyline.

But then again, I would say the story is very unique, it is just like what the trailer emphasized, '' you will be unprepared''! And what I like most about this movie is that 'hot chicks fighting in sexy costumes' actually make sense in this movie! *spoiler ahead* Because the fighting scenes are the character's fantasies, so anything unrealistic about the fights automatically becomes acceptable. No one can actually say something like 'It's impossible throw that thing so high!' or 'how can she be so strong she doesn't even have biceps!' and so on... Those are her fantasies after all! And that's what so clever about the whole idea.

Japanese spirit

Following the catastrophe that hit Japan on 11 March this year, the nuclear plant located at the Fukushima prefecture underwent a series of explosions which led to serious leaking of nuclear radiation. Tens of thousands died and went missing due to the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami attack. People living within 30km radius from the plant were evacuated. Raw spinach and milk from the vicinity have been tested positive for nuclear radiation. Nuclear crisis has become an international concern now and people could not help but feel helpless and miserable at moment like this. In fact, many wonder if this is the end that we've been reading and hearing all this while.

Nevertheless, it definitely is not the end for Japan. Being a country that created dozens of superhero characters that give so much fantasies and hopes to so many people around the world, Japan never stop giving hope and comfort to us even after experiencing such catastrophe. I was truly astonished by how optimistic and how organised they are while handling the aftermath of the disasters. The video below for example, is enough to show how amazing the Japanese are.

Once again, lets hope Japan recuperates soon.

Fukushima plant meltdown?

The third explosion has occurred at Fukushima plant early Tuesday morning. Workers are battling to prevent meltdown at one of the reactors. After the second explosion on Monday, workers tried to cool down the reactor using sea water and boric acid, a method that has never been tested before (Al Jazeera 2011). After the third explosion, even the agency spokesman, Shinji Kinjo has admitted that ''a leak of nuclear material is feared''. It is also reported that "The government is sticking to the line that radiation is within safety levels, but it is a fast-changing situation." This has shown how critical the situation really is and how vulnerable the peoples lives are at this moment.

Radiation levels around Fukushima for one hour's exposure rose to eight times the legal limit for exposure in one year, said the plant's operator, the Tokyo Electric Power Co (Tepco)

Now the most concerned question is no other than ''how far will the radiation go?'' or more importantly ''what is the real impact of radioactive exposure?''

This is what the experts have to say.

(CNN) -- Nuclear power has generally proved safe and nondetrimental to human health.

But when something goes wrong, it can result in widespread radioactive exposure and health hazards that turn an average power plant into a notorious name like Chernobyl.

The levels of radiation and potential health consequences were significantly worse at Chernobyl than at Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan, which has has suffered numerous problems since Friday's earthquake and tsunami. .

The two accidents are not in the same realm, experts said.

On Monday, a hydrogen blast at at the Fukushima Daiichi plant injured 11 people and caused another reactor to malfunction, triggering new fears of a meltdown that could leak dangerous amounts of nuclear radiation.

As many as 160 people have tested positive for some level of radiation in the area. And 17 U.S. Navy helicopter crew members showed low levels of radioactivity after conducting disaster relief missions in Japan, the military said Monday. But after the crew members washed with soap and water, no further contamination was detected, the Navy said.

Radiation levels at the moment are low, but the next 24 to 48 hours will be critical, said David Brenner, director of the Center for Radiological Research at Columbia University.

As the public remains nervous about what will happen at the plant, it's important to keep in perspective the kinds of radiation that people are exposed to every day, and understand the real risks of too much radiation.

"I'm now concerned that we'll go into another nuclear winter, with public opinion turning against nuclear power," said Dr. James Thrall, president of the American College of Radiology and chief of radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. "If you look at nuclear power objectively, it actually has fewer health consequences than any energy production with fossil fuels."

Contamination vs. exposure

Radiation is invisible; you cannot taste it, or smell it, or feel it on your fingers, Thrall said.

There are four primary kinds of ionizing radiation, which is light that has enough energy to ionize an atom, i.e. make it into a charged particle. Alpha particles are relatively heavy and, when emitted, cannot penetrate human skin or clothing, but are harmful if they get into the body otherwise. Beta radiation can cause skin injury and are also harmful to the body internally. Gamma and X-rays are high-energy invisible light that can damage tissue and are most hazardous to humans.

It's not possible to directly measure the amount of radiation exposure a person has had. Exposure refers to the energy the body has absorbed from radioactive material, the high-energy invisible light rays that unstable chemicals emit.

US at low risk for radiation exposure

When you see people with Geiger counters checking around a site like Fukushima Daiichi, they're measuring contamination -- which generally refers to actual radioactive particles.

Radiation all around us

A study from the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurement found that nearly half of the radiation to which the U.S. population is exposed comes from medical sources such as CT scans, X-rays, and nuclear medicine, which is the use of radioactive chemicals in the treatment and diagnosis of health conditions. But there's also radiation coming from the sun, stars and soil.

The average radiation exposure a person gets is about 3,000 microsieverts per year. To give you a sense of what that means, a CT scan is about 3,000 microsieverts, but lasts only a matter of minutes.

The farther away you are from the source of radiation, the less exposure you will have to damaging high-energy light beams such as gamma rays.

Radiation sickness

Generally, the greater exposure you've had, the faster and more intense the symptoms of radiation sickness will be.

Nausea and vomiting are usually the initial symptoms of radiation sickness. A very severe exposure can lead to them within 10 minutes; dizziness, weakness, and low blood pressure may begin immediately. If the radiation exposure is mild, a person might not start experiencing these symptoms for up to six hours. Check out this Mayo Clinic chart, under "symptoms" for more information about how various levels of radiation might affect a person.

The simple removal of clothes and shoes eliminates about 90% of external radiation contamination, according to the Mayo Clinic, and washing with soap and water takes radiation off the skin. This lowers your risk of breathing or ingesting radiation particles, or having them get into open wounds.

There may be damage to bone marrow, which can be treated with a protein called granulocyte colony-stimulating factor. Transfusions of red blood cells or blood platelets may also be necessary.

When there's a possibility of internal organs being damaged from radiation exposure, there are some treatments for specific types of radiation.

Radioactive iodine, which is hazardous to humans, is one of the biproducts of the chemical reaction involving uranium that takes place at the Fukushima Daiichi plant.

Since the thyroid is prone to taking up radioactive iodine, people at risk of this problem can benefit from potassium iodide, which contains the stable component of iodine. Potassium iodide can protect the thyroid from damage. The Japanese government is currently working to distribute potassium iodide to residents near the reactors.

There is also a type of dye called Prussian blue that binds to the radioactive particles of cesium and thalium, reducing the amount of radiation that cells may absorb, according to the Mayo Clinic. A chemical called diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid binds to radioactive particles of plutonium, americium and curium.

The shadows of Chernobyl and Three Mile Island

In Chernobyl, the world's biggest nuclear accident, which occurred in 1986, 28 workers and firefighters died from radiation sickness months after they helped put out the fire.

Radioactive iodine also allegedly got into the general population through milk, Thrall said. This likely happened when milk-producing cows ate iodine-contaminated grass, he said.

Cancer can take decades to appear as a result of radiation exposure, and epidemiological studies have found an increased risk of cancer in people who were near Chernobyl at the time of the disaster.

The Japan situation probably won't get to the scale of Chernobyl, but it could be bigger than Three Mile Island, said. Three Mile Island is a nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania that, 32 years ago, had the worst nuclear power accident in the United States. But in the U.S. crisis, there was only a partial meltdown, and nuclear fuel never escaped the reactor vessels. There has been no evidence found of resulting long-term cancer risk in that area.

"At the levels that we're seeing in Japan I do not believe we'll see any cancer risk in the population," Thrall said.

How it differs from an atomic bomb

There is a big difference between the effects of the atomic bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II and possible spread of nuclear radiation from malfunctioning nuclear power plants, said Dr. John D. Boice, a radiation epidemiologist and scientific director of the International Epidemiology Institute.

In 1945, Americans dropped bombs in parachutes, and these detonated above the city -- not on the ground.

"The atomic bomb -- it was whole body exposure that lasted less than a second," he said. The radiation traveled through the body, similarly to how X-rays behave.

"The effects may be different, because it was such an immediate response," Boice said. "For the reactors, it's different. It's a gradual exposure over time. It might include radioactive elements such as iodine and cesium, which may be ingested."

Radioactive iodine can cause thyroid problems and cancers, and cesium can also increase cancer risk. If leaking occurs, the population could breathe or ingest contaminated foods with radioactive elements.

"These are different types of exposure -- they would involve the possibility of ingestion and staying in the body."

The effects of survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings have been followed through the Radiation Effects Research Foundation, a joint U.S.-Japan effort to study the impact. Studies found survivors had higher rates of leukemia and cancers in the breast, thyroid, lung, colon and stomach over time.

Boice said he was concerned about workers who are having to deal with the emergency and work in a highly volatile situation at Fukushima Daiichi.

"They're dealing with the deaths of friends and families -- then to add on top of that, there is the possibility of a serious nuclear meltdown," Boice said. "How much can one country, one civilization bear?"

Earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan last Friday has killed thousands of people and the death toll is increasing day by day. Tens of thousands went missing. Countless people lost their home. Not to mention earthquakes that struck other countries such as New Zealand and China just months or even days before this disaster took away hundreds of lives and caused huge losses. Now that two reactors at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station have exploded, no one can tell for sure how serious the effect on both human health and economic will be. For the time being, interviews in CNN and Japanese government gave positive predictions of the plant condition, but how long can the nuclear station stand? If cooling effort is not sufficient, another explotion may occur yet again.

Yesterday I cried in the car
I told myself: I can't go home now... I can't let them see me like this...
I wanted to find a place to stop my car and cry out loud
so I drove all the way to a place where I've never been before...
some remote village where everything looked strange
for some reason
I felt calm and relief
I wanted to drive on and on to the very end of the road
I had a feeling that I'd find something there
or someone...

then I remembered that I have to go home
I've been driving on that road for only 15 minutes
assuming the car average speed to be 50km/hr
I only drove for about 12.5km
hah, that's how far I can go huh?
lame...

I wonder what would I see if I go a bit further...

Singapore trip

I know... it's sooooo outdated...hahahha
so... I was back from Singapore two weeks ago.. caught a cold right after I reach home...The trip lasted for 4 days, went there with Rosemary, Elaine and Audrey.

First day:
After we reached Singapore, we went to our hotel right away to put our luggage and headed to China town to have our dinner. It was already 8pm...Then we walked a long way to Clarke Quay to enjoy the night scenery.

Second day:

We went to City Hall to see the imfamous Merlion, a must-go for every visitors to Singapore..we took some pictures before heading off to Bugis street. We spent a few hours at Bugis street to shop for clothes and shoes... There are just too many stalls and too many cheap and attractive stuff to look at, but unfortunately we didn't have enough time as we have to move on to the next destination to take our dinner.

The best place to get big portion, cheap and tasty western food is...? Bingo! In NUS!! hahahha.... After that, we went to Orchard Road, a spot famous for it's beautiful night scenery. The whole road and the shopping malls along it were decorated with colourful light bulbs. The scenery was simply spectacular.

Third day:
We went to Science Centre early in the morning. It is a great place to hang around whole day... (if I were 10 years younger..) hehe... there are a lot of interesting things to look at, and my favourite would be the tesla coil demonstration which generates electric sparks that resembles natural lighting. After that, we went to grab our lunch at NUS again... lol...and went to VivoCity for a short walk, before proceeding to Sentosa. At Sentosa, we took the luge ride, skyride, and watched 4D magix and cineblast.. I won't say it's very interesting though :P. Around 9 o'clock, we went back to VivoCity to have our dinner.

Fourth day:
This was the last day of our trip. We went for the last minute shopping near our hotel before heading to Changi Airport.

Overall, I had a wonderful time in Singapore. It's the first time I went for a vacation with friends only, although I enjoyed the freedom, I still hoped I could share the fun with my family. I look forward to the next trip! KL anyone?

This semester is definitely not the one I work hardest for... I think I've become lazier and lazier... which is not good :S

Why sudden change in my lifestyle? Am I tired of my course already? Well... civil engineering is not exactly an interesting subject to study if you have no interest in it...

This sem we went to two site visits-- CMS and Batu Kitang water treatment plant.
This sem we went to eat outside almost everyday, Jojo and Jadepot being our fav.
This sem we turned a bit... naughty? :O

22/7-24/7 Habitat for humanity

We had a lot of fun helping out, or rather playing at the building site... As we are girls, we couldn't do much, so we helped to nail the board to the wall, instead of hammering the nail, we hammer our thumb... how cute =_= After two days of hard work, we finally had some easier job on the last day, which is painting. We are all good painter ;D

26/7 Cosvention Boulevard

I love anime and manga, as well as anything related to them, so how can I miss the Cosvention (cosplay convention)? I'm very happy that Kuching fans are starting to hold this kind of convention annually. Although there is still a long way to go to before it gets as good and as compatible as other cosplay convention out there, but at least we have a start, and I'm sure we'll get there soon enough with a little bit more effort from the organizers and a lot of support from the community:-) Gambateh neh Kuching cosplay fans!!

Slumber party...again

This time, we overnight at Kim's house. Kim cooked her famous dish spaghetti, mushroom soup and mixed vege. We also made salad which consist of all the ingredients we can find: dragon fruit, carrot, cabbage, apple and tomato, it might taste weird without mayonnaise and sweetened milk tho...XD, and no, we did not have diarrhea after eating that, so it's a safe recipe, you can try out at home too :P

Then the next day, we went to Boulevard and got ourself a pair of sunglasses... Couldn't wait to put it on and took some pictures...zzz Do forgive us for our childish acts, that was our very first pair of sunglasses afterall...>_<

How time flies... I'm already 20 now >_<''' Lao kok kok... This is the cake Kim, Ai and Min bought for me, we finished almost all of it within one go, such amazing appetite! I'm already 20... and I've wasted 20 years!... All I've done was study, study, and study... The peaks of my life that I could think of are--- UPSR, PMR and SPM... as if nothing else happened.. So I think to myself I better start living my life seriously from now onwards... I better set a target more meaningful than getting full HD in the exam... I have to crawl out of the book!!

Wheeeeeeeeee!! Final exam is finally OVER! I feel so peaceful right now...

All papers were difficult... especially Road eng... hope I don't fail >.<. To conclude this sem... umm, there' been good and bad times, but overall, i'm quite happy with everyone i worked with throughout the sem. One thing that I won't forget about this sem is the tough times we had standing under burning sun, although it's hot i still have to wear jacket, otherwise i'll get sunburn, so it's like doing survey in an oven every fieldwork session. It's a real torture i tell you... factors other than the weather also contribute to the torture as well, if you know what i mean ;D... so topo=mental and physical torture zzz. It's a miracle we survived tho...

Another thing that kills off a big portion of my brain cells is some seemingly 'useless'(for the purpose of my complaint only... so no offence), yet complicated formulas and theorems people call fourier analysis. It's just too complicated for me cos my trigo and integration foundation sucks...and because my brain just cease to function after 5pm, so the outcome for the two to three hours maths lecture in the evening is absolutely zero.

Lessons learnt during this sem:
1. never argue with someone older and more experienced than you, cos all you'll get in the end is a big NOOO! (means you'll always be wrong)

2. never finish your assignment early, becos in the end you'll find that all you've done is wrong. So to save all the unnecessary effort, you might as well just wait till the very last minute and 'consult' other people

K. I'm going to reset my ram now, delete all the numbers and theorems, and set to holiday mode. Good bye year two sem one.

I bought two novels and I already finished one, I watched whole series of JR, I sleep every afternoon, I did something which I never thought I could do but I am kinda proud of it... and I totally forgot about homework, assignment and project... =.='''

Am I a lil too carefree...? I think I'm starting to worry :S I always thought holiday is suppose to be the time you relax your mind and soul... think of nothing but enjoy... But friends around me (yes, I mean you! kekeke...) seem to be a lot more busier than I do and I feel bad about it, and then I think maybe I should do something already... This sem we need to design a clothes washer for our sustainable design subject. Rosemary, Ropalin , Debby and I were in one group. We're not mechanical engineers, we didn't know how a washing machine works, we're all girls, and yet we chose to design clothes washer because we thought small things were easier to design compared to big structures like bridge and house.... but we were wrong..zzz.. It was soooo hard to design a machine that can actually work and look sophisticated so that people dare to use. We knew nothing at all... and all we could do was just to let our imagination run wildly, but what could possibly come out of these little brains of ours?

But at last, we managed to squeezed out something...and hopefully we'll just pass because we really worked very hard... Rosemary was willing to do everything for the project even by the means of ruining her own reputation----

Rosemary STOLE dustbin in the library...XDDD!!!

omg...hahahhaha, I can't stop laughing everytime I watch this.... Such a brave rock!... We need to thank her for her hard effort otherwise we would never be able to complete the project...LOL!!

Hurray!!! Tests are over. Assignments all done. Finally...i can get a good night sleep tonight... :D
Got sick two days ago... It was a hard time for me, and for everyone too... we were being dumped into war zone, fighting and struggling hard to survive the deadly hazard of Swinburne hell...Well, luckily we all survived in the end... Thank God!

OK, I uploaded some pictures i took during mid-autumn festival at Kim's house as i promised...

Kim prepared a feast... got pasta, french fries, mushroom soup, jelly, juice and moon cake. Really nice o... thanks Kim! :D We ate until we can't move anymore and we decided to go play lantern...

See... spooky ler? Well, they looked nicer in reality... They are all Kim's collection. The oldest one was as old as my sister... which means Kim kept it for more than 10 years already, and it was still in mint condition...

This Hamtaro lantern was bought especially for Min Min...

We burnt a lot of lanterns... sadly...and this was one of them...>_<

It's now 5.16 in the morning... and I'm soooooo tired and my kidney hurts >_< ...no, I think it's only my back...Arrr!!!! can't think properly...I'm experiencing delusion!!!

Yeah...it's all because of the stupid ASS-ignmentsss! And stupid testssss.... Everything is due next week, everything is so piled up!! I can't breath!!! T^T And Rosemary, I finally feel the heat, and I cried too last last night...cried like crazy....for once I just want to give up. But everyone is trying so hard...I can't give up before them...not now...

So today is mid-autumn festival. Last night I went to Kim's house to celebrate and play lanterns...I didn't take a lot of photos cos it's too dark, can't see anything except some ghost-fire-look-alike lanterns... I'll upload the photo next time, probably next next week after the tests, and we'll be having our mid-term break!!! :D Can't wait can't wait!!!

Well, at the mean time, just pray that I can survive till then. Jya!!

Today, while I was trying hard to stay awake and concentrate in the M&P lecture for once, someone had already gave in to the lecturer's hypnosis and snoozed away......One can tell how tired he was by the way he snore...XD!! Yea, so he didn't just doze off... he actually slept soundly throughout the 2-hour lecture. By the time the lecturer said, " Ok, that's all for today..." he stopped snoring immediately and woke up...... LOL...incredible guy!

Can't blame him tho... that lecture has always been boring...

I couldn't stay focus...so I tried to jot down some notes, but in the end, I found myself...

A trip to Pasir Panjang

Today, we had a trip to Pasir Panjang. It was only about 7 something when we reached there, the sky was still not fully lit, the breeze was cool and refreshing... and I managed to capture some picturesque moment (or so I think :P) ......

Yeah!!!I was there!!! Not everyone can go know? Kekeke.... I'm lucky! Our choir club took part in performing the Malaysia and Australia national anthem, and so I was in. I thought it would be a great opportunity and experience...

Today, I went to uni at 11am, with make-ups on O_O... We were all reluctant to put on heavy make-ups, but Irene, our ex conductor was keen on making sure everyone is 'presentable' on stage...so all the girls got super red ang-ku cheeks...

Later we had our lunch, which is a pack of rice with a fried chicken wing and some vege and curry. Then we went to get our regalia....

Ta-da!!! Me in regalia....second time since kindy :D

Then we headed to multipurpose hall, and were locked backstage to wait for our turn.... and then some camera guy came in, so we asked him to take photo for us...

Just minutes after the sweet photo-taking time, we were told to standby...

And then, SHOWTIME!!!

There were about few thousands people down there. I can only see YAB Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife sitting at the middle front row. We started with Malaysian national anthem, and then Australian one...the whole performance was only about a minute I guess. The conductor, Hua Beng kept on reminding us to smile, but I couldn't smile cos I was too nervous... then we sing sing sing...

And then, it's OVER!!!

Wow...kind of hard to believe it ended so fast... :-o And it becomes history...Hey, they say it's going to be shown on TV next week, RTM1 if not mistaken... OMG!!! I'm gonna be on TV!!! That's...that's my childhood dream! ^o^

After that, we rushed to library. Purpose? To show that Swinburne's students are hardworking...hahhahaha, yea, we need to pretend we're studying...Johnson took Taib Mahmud's book out to read, hahhahaha, funny guy!

And then lastly, after they visited the library, we went down stairs to have some refreshment and watched students performance. Then, we went home...

Ooo! The chief minister's car! Some people took photo with the car, they went very near it, and some even touched it like they were show boy or something, lol... I was kind of worried tho...

Rosemary and I decided to take part in every choir club's activities in the future..who knows someday we might become popular... XD

We celebrated Min Min's birthday at Pizza Hut yesterday. We had a great time. Hope Min Min doesn't mind we didn't provide candles for her cake and just kind of rushed through the birthday song, :P sorry Min... and as usual, we blabbed whole night long...

Mum won't be at home for a few days, and it's up to me to do the house chores!! and cook meals!! and get out of bed on my own!!! Arrrr.....nightmare!! :S

Oh... that day went to pay fees. Bloody expensive...Pok Kai chor....

I borrowed 'Who Moved My Cheese?' in the library yesterday since i got some free time and also because the back of the book says: " ...this story takes less than an hour to read..." lol...and yea, I managed to finish it within an hour!

Throughout the book you'll find short sayings that tells you how to deal with changes, and I found them really motivating, so I'd like to share some of them with you here...
